Welcome to the Abstract Submission:
The Poster Scientific Committee of 1st Internal Medicine Conference of Al Adan Hospital is pleased to call for submission of posters from Internal Medicine department and subspecialties in conjunction with
1st Internal Medicine Adan Conference that will be held on 10-11 January 2025. Three Awards will be given to the best posters presented based on scientific review by a selected expert panel. The
purpose of this opening platform to encourage researchers to engage in profound research aiming to improve clinical services and to publish articles in the research area of their interest for wider
audiences.
General Guidelines:
- Poster abstract title should be relevant to Internal Medicine and its sub-specialities.
- The abstract subject should include novel and rare findings of original research articles, case reports, epidemiological data, and environmental health issues.
- At least 50% of the submitted Abstracts should be done in Kuwait.
- The total word count should not exceed 300 words.
- Ethical approval statement or exemption with committee name and reference number is required, if ethics approval is pending please make a note of it.
- For poster presentations, the primary author and / or co- author will be allotted 5 minutes to present their e-poster display.
- The Poster Scientific Committee will make the final decision regarding abstract acceptance for presentation.
Instructions for abstract preparing for submission:
- Abstract title (abbreviations should be avoided).
- For each poster, the name of all authors and their affiliations, the name of first author, the name of the poster presenting author (if different from the first author), and the name of
corresponding author and details of the correspondences should be mentioned clearly in the poster.
- The abstract format must include the Background, Objective, Methods, Results, Conclusions and Keywords.
- The abstract should be written in Times New Roman or Calibri font 12pt., single-spaced, without spaces between paragraphs, and justified paragraph alignment.
- For each abstract, up to 2 figures and 1 table can be included in a submission.
- Conflict of interest disclosure by the corresponding author is important.
Review process:
- All abstract submissions are peer reviewed by the scientific review committee.
- A minimum of two reviewers will independently involved to evaluate each abstract.
- Authors' names and institutions are blinded during the review process.
- The reviewers will use the scoring rubric for abstract evaluation.
- The reviewers will consider the following criteria:
- Relevance: To the overall theme of the conference and topics listed above
- Scientific Merit: Direction toward developing a new or improved diagnostic procedure or idea
- Organization: Well organized, easy to follow, and understandable
- Practicality: Should be available, logical, and feasible
- Clarity: Should be clear and brief and show understanding of the subject matter
- Novelty: Of the topic (e.g., the case addresses a new question or problem or approaches traditional questions from a novel perspective.
- technical Quality: The idea must stand up to scrutiny. Facts and data have scientific backing.
For poster presentation:
- Posters will be displayed as e-posters and must be submitted prior to the conference.
- E-poster sizes should be 24.38 cm (h) X 13.71 cm (w) (Portrait Format).
- Each poster will be assigned a number.
- The presentation must cover the material as cited in your abstract.
- Presenting author should be available to discuss their poster for the designated period during presentation to answer delegates queries.
- Figures and graphs and photos:
- Figures must be submitted as either tif- (tagged image format) or eps- (encapsulated postscript) files
- Tables should be presented as images
- Photographs, micrographs and scanned images; 1200 dpi for diagrams, scanned line drawings and line drawings in bitmap formats
- Patient consent is required for any figures containing patient images. Please include a statement below the abstract text
